Planned Project: Bee Keeping

honey for life and environment
For the farmers
living in Kilimanjaro Region, Bee Keeping and thus the production of honey, is
not only an additional source of income besides the plantation of yams, bananas
and other seasonal cereal crops. Furthermore, a well developed population of
bees is crucial for the plantation of
banana, cereals and legumes for only this species is able to pollinate
these plants.
In order to improve the inefficient and dangerous current practice of Bee Keeping, we aim to implement new technologies for Bee Houses. These allow to harvest honey more frequently. A t the same time these new methods avoid the expulsion of bees from their hive, keep the honey combs intact and thus make it possible to increase the population of bees as well as the production of honey.
We strive to implement these new technologies and to introduce other products gained from bees, for example beeswax and royal gelly. Therefore we aim to install a training center, where we can coordinate and conduct the practical and theoretical training of the local farmers.
